Bill Cunningham, a Real fashion artist

Bill Cunningham is taking picture on the street<from Internetl>
This is a documentary about a common but unique fashion journalist, Bill Cunningham, who has been worked for New York Times Style Section for over half a century.
He goes out for taking pictures every day in a blue uniform coat with his small camera and old bicycle. He believes in the real fashion show is on the street. He doesn’t like anything fancy, but like women’s dressing. He enjoys each fashion week but not for the celebrities with free clothes. He is taking street snaps for living , but he treats money as the cheapest thing.
Bill is just this kind of enjoyable person, he never care what kind of people thought about him, the only thing he focus on is the these beautiful scenes he caught in his camera.
He has worked for so many years, some of his “models” were becoming the “big guy” in fashion industry. Such as Vogue’s editrix Anna Wintour, she even said:” We all get dressed for Bill.”
Even when he was invited to the Paris Fashion Week, people who knew him really treated him like “the most important person to the world”. They knew Bill’s talent and value.
Most of people would be shocked when we followed the camera entering into Bill’s home, which was actually a super tiny room with full of files closet. Why this huge and fancy industry can not bring money for him? I guess this kind of question would come out in every audience’s mind.
Then we start to know his deep inside, his family, his ideal, his sense of worth. That part of documentary has a little bit heavy and poignant, but just this part let us know the real Bill and how he became this he. We want to know.
Near the end, all the friends in New York Times celebrated the birthday for Bill, he was so happy that he might feel what he experienced were so worthy. He is doing his dream work always alone, but when he turns back, everyone is like him and need him. Hope he can keep going on his street game till the end.

Bill Cunningham is definitely a fashion journalist and an icon in the industry.
Fashion is a really complicated major, but sometimes it is pretty simple. You have to read, watch, feel and learn a lot from this huge world and no one can tell you what is exact fashion. But sometimes you can just live with your heart and passion to experience fashion, like Bill.
What he pursues is super simple and straight-forward, that’s fashion. What he achieved is his sensitive feeling of fashion, and he got it! There’s no free lunch in the world. Wealth and fame will make people lost and hard to follow his heart. Bill doesn’t care food, never do paparazzi, only cares clothes. That’s why he can feel fashion so deep and clearly. He is a real fashion icon.
Time can prove anything. Like a touchstone, when Bill’s pictures came out “6- month later, it would be a trend.” Anna Wintour said so.
What Bill record for fashion is not a simple section in a publication any more, but actually a fashion development history in reality. Especially he has a really good sense of fashion and a pretty stylish attitude, that is “don’t care others, just have fun with clothes on the street”.

How creative this design is

Miss Unkon: a kaleidesope mind

You see a girl. She has a youth that's an attitude, not an age; she wears feminine layers and beaten up boots, she's unafraid and unaffected, and she wants to change the world.
That girl is the Miss Unkon girl. A figment of the creative process the label's Creative Director Courtney Meyer goes through with each collection's creation. Meyer's clear vision and understanding of her customer is what makes Miss Unkon a stable yet evolving brand, and one we're looking forward to seeing on the runway at the impending RAFW (Australian fashion week). So much so that we borrowed more then a few moments of Meyer's times to see just we and other Miss Unkon enthusiasts have in store when her spring 2011 collection takes to the catwalk.

miss unkon autumn 2011

When asked what spring 2011 will hold for Miss Unkon, Meyer tells us it's an extension of the autumn / winter 2011 story of light fabrics mixed with the cut-outs. For spring and summer, however, the collection moves to seasonal shorter pieces and more feminine shapes. The spring collection goes under the name of 'Girls with Kaleidoscope Minds'. Meyer tells us it's all about the magic of the imagination; the "part of a girl that has that deeper creativity, sometimes hidden, where she is quite free to express her emotional essence of herself."
Colour wise we can anticipate that the Miss Unkon's RAFW runway will be awash with the soft, dreamy colours we expect of the label: dusty mauve, cream, and mocha, mixed in with coral and mustard. An on-trend palette that fits the 70s fashion revival themes of freedom, sandy deserts and faded photographs.
So what does it mean to have a kaleidescopic mind? Meyer would undoubtedly know. We can't help but think that the passion that's central to the Miss Unkon girl is reflected in - or is that a reflection of? - Meyer's own. Similarly her view of dressing rings true for many a fashioniser:
Fashion comes alive when all three things come together, the girl that connects to the essence of the collection, the feeling that the environment creates and the way her personality shines through the clothes. A statement piece for me is a piece that a girl makes her own, rather than it standing out alone."
Fashionising.com will bring you full coverage of Miss Unkon's spring 2011 collection, along with all the other key RAFW catwalks, during the first week of May. In the meantime, you can take in Miss Unkon's autumn / winter 2011 look book by clicking on the photos below.

Dior FALL 2011 Review

John Galiano was fired by Dior, because of his indecent speech to Jews. So this was the last time for his work be presented in Dior. Let's have a look for the fashion genius' final show with Dior.

If Galiano says he is the second best fashion designer whom can mix various of fabric and materials, no one can be the NO.1. This sounds be a little bit exaggereted, but I think there's no one would doubt his talented mixing skill.

Fur,perspective fabric, lace, chiffon, velvet, silk, and so on. These bunch of elements are all the 2011 fashion new trends. But few designers can combine all of these in one collection together, Galiano just one the of few.

Fashion Icon In China--Fan Bingbing

Fan Bingbing appeared in the Paris Fashion Week with a classic Christian Dior ensemble: A white cap sleeved belted top was paired with a simple pencil black skirt.

The most impressive element was absolutely the black sunglasses, which was more like Lady Gaga style, but it still looked matchable on Fan Bingbing.

She is really more and more enjoying her every appearance in Red Carpet. Such as the last attractive show-off: Her dragon robe by Laurence Hsu.

Besides, she is still one of the most controversial stars in China.

Favorite Dressing For Summer

If you asked me, what's my favorite clothing in this summer. I will absolutely say: Dress with lace or chiffon!

Lace always makes lady more elegant ; and chiffon is the one makes lady cuter. You have to try at least one of these two during this summer, which would never make you regret.

There are the two pieces below, which I choose to myself for wearing in the spring break~ They are all black, but totally different style.

The left side one is a white dot strap dress, which is a pretty simple design. BTW, I like the simple style for the daily dressing. Due to the chiffon fabric and the classic dot, the whole feeling is changed, which seems like more fashionable and suit for most of girls. Even you are an office lady, you can add a belt and wear a high-wheel go to work. Otherwise you wanna have a holiday, still can just wear a pair of flip sandals~

The right piece is another clipper style, which is mixed by lace and chamois. The most impressive part is the back deep-v-collar design, every skinny girl put on this dress might be elegant and hot.

ENJOY THE SHINING  SUMMER!

THE FITTEST, THE BEST

No one will doubt that the Red Carpet in Oscar is one of the touchstones in fashion on Feb.27.2011,5pm.You can easily find the fashion trends of this Oscar is red or silver color dress with sequin jewelry, not only continues the retro style, and more fit.

The 83rd Oscar started with the first star and also the co-host Annie Hathaway in Kodak Theatre, Hollywood. What Hathaway worn was an low-cut red dress with fluffy hem, elegant yet lively.  Red is always suit for the people who have white skin like her.

Scarlett Johansson has always been a photographer’s “Beloved Girl”, her dark red and long skirt, plus the extensive use of the hollow body lace design, which inspired bursts of screaming fans.

Double Academy Award and Golden Globe Actress Hilary Swank’s silver low-cut dress, with lively feathers dotted hem, was really impressive.

“Black Pearl” Halle Berry would never let people down, she chose a gold dress covered with mosaic crystals and sequins, super fantastic. Her feature and skin color is perfect for the cream color, which looks positive.
With previous years Oscar, there are still some artists chosen the dress not for their own style.

Although her performance is great , but this kind of heavy metal which surrounded by the upper body and the radial pyramid dress really made the Best Supporting Actress nominee Jackie-Weaver looked worse.

Although the retro style is very popular, but it doesn’t mean you have to put the 30‘s polyester curtains on . Florence Welch was just this kind of  artist who didn’t show her good feature off.

Another bad look was Cuddy Horn’s black printed dress and her fishnet gloves. The design of chest part was totally fail, which totally didn’t show woman’s sexy. Besides, the texture of this very ordinary small floral print was really hard to match the Oscar---one of the biggest film festival.

No matter what kind of material and designs the actresses chose, most of them looked more appropriate and  charming, because they’ve found their own personalities and chosen to follow.

See, how popular she is~

When I looked through fashion web pages, bunch of stylists were posted online with their amazing looks.

This lady really caught my eyes, while I was browsing on the CHICTOPIA. It is really my type!~ So I recommend this look on my twitter just half an hour ago. Few minutes later, I got into the FABSUGAR, which was the website I've never been in before. Coz I just know it from my Fashion Journalism teacher today. That's not the point!

The point is, I saw this look twice within 30 minutes and obviously taken by two photographers, in totally different location. This feeling was pretty cool~

Love fashion, love this kind of meet with.

AcademyofArtUniversity 2011FashionWeek Preview

Six students from Academy of Art University launched their show in New York Fashion Week on Feb.11,2011. These students are from all over the world, which bring in various fashion elements.
<link to the show: http://www.academyart.edu/fashionshow/2011-02-11_new_york.html>
(one of my favoriate designers,Jonathan David Baker)
The show started with a piece of wool jersey hooded dress by a California designer, which inspired by a water diving bird. This sort of obvious symbols fulfilled all the other five collections. Such as nomads, Japanese underground culture, Victoria era style and so on. Another interesting things was that all the designers chose to use the natural, organic and comfortable drapery to make their design, like wool, cotton and voile. Overall, the style for this show was diversity and pursuing human comfort. We could catch some very excellent elements through this show.

The clipping of some pieces are simple but multi-layering. Such as one of Minha Yoon’s design, silk twill and chiffon dress with silk twill draped corset, which makes people elegant and lively. Jonathan David Baker’s style is not the simple one, but also impressive, especially the cotton voile pleated dress with shibori knit jacket. This piece really shines my eyes when the model comes out. It’s really a good example for showing the mix of thick knit coat with voile dress. Otherwise, the white color makes more sense of Japanese cute style. The wool gabardine pant with leather top and wool leather vest also is one of my favorites of this show. Designer Aura Taylor chooses the wool fabric to present the popular element light tan, then the clipping of this piece is really fantastic but low-key, which can make people elegant and fashionable, but not too much.

It also have some disadvantages, such as the designers are timid and afraid of trying more, which means most of the garments are too normal, no enough passion. The color-using has the same problem. Black is classic, because it’s safe enough. But if too much, it will be boring. We need some bright and energy colors!

In all, for a student’s fashion show, there’s no doubt that it’s successful. But how to attract more people to pay attention, young designers need more release, brave and just do it.
